I forgot, when are you getting to RVA again, and how long will you be here? I know you've told me twice. I'm going out of town for a week and will be back Next Sunday, the 22nd I think:-)

Harry Potter -- like it or not -- is the Judy Blume/JRR Tolkien/Great Brain of today. It gets kids to read, and as sappy as it is, it's readable as an adult. Christ - it can't be that bad if the Vatican dislikes it.

Yeah, but I don't remember a movie of "Are you there God? It's me, Margaret", nor going out in my pajamas/costumes for a 'party' at midnight in the parking lot of a book store for Fitzgerald. I do love the fact that Harry Potter and JRR Tolkien encourage kids to read, and the books are pretty good. However, the movies discourage many kids from reading the books when they can just watch it.

Henry is looking very forward to seeing his future mother-in-law again - not to mention slapping a wet one on his girl!

Harry Potter is some bullshit. People ask me if i have read them and I always say, as snobbily as possible, "No, I'm too busy reading GROWN UP books."

I am that asshole bookstore clerk that people bitch about.

Also, you still have time to resist the mommyzombie transformation: Hurry up and get here so I can pour some liquid cure (AKA "beer") down your throat.

i argree that yes, it's great that the harry potter books are getting kids to read, i hope that one day Lucy will get as excited about books as the crazy little bastards that come into the store and announce to everyone which books on the shelves they have read or are in the process of reading. But, on the other i hate to see little children the victims of marketing.

Val! (and all other friends who would like to see us) we'll be in RVA on the 27th, 28th (va beach on the 29-31) and back to richmond on the 1st and 2nd. we want to see everyone!

Okay, Umi, put me on the list of people to see while you're in town! I'm looking forward to catching up with you and Mike and meeting miss Lucy. And don't worry about the weather--110% humidity is good for your complexion.
