I'm scared of the heat in Virginia. It's been about 90 degrees here for the past few days and everyone acts like they're going to die. My friend Maia works for the Boston Public Health Commission and the other day she had to help set up "cooling stations" in nearby housing projects that consisted of archways of hoses that misted you as you walked underneath. I seem to remember something of the sort at Kings Dominion. But, now that my blood has thickened, and my thighs slap together when i walk, i feel i may wither away on the steamy streets of Richmond.
I love my moms groups. i always thought that i'd be the oldest person at these things, 35 is gettin up there to have a kid even in our day and age, but compared to the new moms i've been meeting, i'm a SPRING CHICKEN. I guess it's that free IVF that we have here.
I fly out of Boston to BWI tomorrow morning. I'll pick up my rental car, drive an hour to the hotel in PA, check in early, pump breast milk, and go to Tom's wedding at 3. I will enjoy several cocktails. Later, in the hotel, I will watch cable tv in my underwear. Then I fly back on Sunday afternoon just in time to see my daughter before i die of separation anxiety.
And then, Richmond on Tuesday.
